Managing the Roster
Editing a member's callsign, department, and rank, suspending someone, and reading the roster the way staff actually need to.
Table of contents
The roster is the CAD's full member list — everyone who's joined, their rank, their department, and whether they're currently suspended.
Reading it
Every member shows their callsign (if they've got one from being on duty before), their rank, their department, and their status. Suspended members are marked clearly rather than just quietly missing — a suspension is something staff should be able to see at a glance, not something that makes someone disappear from the list.
Editing someone
Click a member to change their rank, department, or callsign. This needs the Roster Edit permission specifically — holding some other staff permission (Moderation, Infractions, whatever) isn't enough on its own; Roster Edit is the one that actually unlocks changing someone else's standing.
Suspending and ending a shift
A supervisor can suspend a member directly from here, or end an active shift if someone's on duty and needs to be pulled. Suspending someone through an infraction (a Suspension or Termination kind, specifically) does this automatically as part of issuing it — see "The Moderator Panel" for that flow. Suspending from the roster screen directly is the manual version of the same thing, for when there isn't a formal infraction behind it.
Default rank on join
If your community set a default rank in settings, every new member already starts there the moment they join — nobody has to sort a fresh member by hand unless you want them somewhere other than the default.
What a plain member sees
Someone without Roster Edit can still see the roster — it's readable by the whole community, not staff-only — they just can't click in and change anyone. "Who's my supervisor" and "is anyone from my department on right now" are questions members ask constantly, and the roster being open to read (not just to edit) is what answers them without anyone needing to ask a person directly.
More in Guides
The Dispatch Board: Calls, BOLOs, and Priorities
Creating and running a call from the moment it comes in to the moment it closes, and keeping BOLOs current while you're at it.
The Moderator Panel: Infractions and Cleanup
Two different screens that both sound like moderation — logging discipline against a person, and cleaning up records and BOLOs. They're gated by different permissions on purpose.
Department Applications
A real written application form, right on the CAD, that can place someone straight into a department when they're accepted.
