Customizing Call Kinds
What a call can be raised as isn't fixed — it's your own list, and members only ever pick from it.
Table of contents
When someone creates a call, they pick a kind — Law, Fire, Medical, that sort of thing. That list isn't hardcoded. It's yours to define, and like every owner-curated list in the CAD, members only ever pick from it. Nobody types in their own custom kind.
The default list
A fresh CAD starts with six: Law, Fire, Medical, Traffic, Tow, and Service. That's enough for most communities to get going without touching anything.
Changing it
Staff console → Settings, same screen as unit items and certifications. Add a kind by typing it and hitting Add; remove one with the small × next to it. There has to be at least one kind left at all times — if there were none, nobody could raise a call at all, so the last one can't be removed.
Why it's pick-only
This is the same rule the CAD applies everywhere a community curates a list for its members: unit items, certifications, and now call kinds. The owner decides what the valid options are; members choose among them, full stop. It keeps the data actually useful — a board where "structure fire" is sometimes typed as "Structure Fire" and sometimes "struct fire" is a board nobody can filter or search reliably. One spelling per kind, decided once, used everywhere.
Where it shows up
Every place a call's kind is shown — the create-call form, the filter row above the call list, and the little coloured chip on each call itself — all read from this same list and update the moment you change it. There's nothing to keep in sync by hand.
